So, here's one of the big questions that a lot of you might have when sitting down to record your podcast: should you curse in your podcast? The reality is, you have to think of who your target audience is before making this decision. If your show is being syndicated on live radio, you will have to go by the FCC's "Obscene, Indecent and Profane Broadcasts" laws [Click Here to read more]. So, you will need to consider that if you are doing both radio and podcast versions of your show.

A few months back, we sat down with one of our podcast engineers Mike Castañeda to discuss how to get NPR Sound when you record your podcast. Mike has a wide range of experience recording audio ranging from reality TV to NPR Podcasts such as Freakanomics which he talks a bit about in this episode.
Getting the best audio quality possible in your recordings is key, but when a lot of people think about this, they immediately go to the unique style that NPR has crafted for their radio shows (and now podcasts) over the past few decades. But is this the sound you should try to achieve? That depends entirely on the kind of show you are attempting to produce.

As you can probably tell, we've been on a tear lately trying to find the perfect podcast recording board so you don't have to. So far, we've tested out the Zoom Livetrak L12, the Presonus StudioLive AR12 USB and now we're back at it again, testing out the Tascam DP-24SD (Who came up with these naming conventions anyway?) which so far is our favorite. But, there's a catch!
