We have all likely experienced trying to control your feelings, or control what others think and feel about you - or even the outcome of things. Here is something to think about: You cannot be trying to control something and be letting go at the same time. That is actually important enough to say again: You cannot be trying to control something and be letting go at the same time. I am asked by my clients quite a few times: "How DO I let go?". To 'let go', you are letting go of control. I mentioned in podcast #015 "Are you Listening to YOUR Guides" - about the TEAM of guides and angels you have at your service. You also have your 'higher self' - at least that is what some people call it. I have also heard it called your 'soul', your 'essence', your 'spirit' - I don't think it really matters what you call it, the important part is to KNOW that there is a higher power working with you. When you learn to 'let go' and 'go with the flow', you are allowing this higher power to draw to you the experiences that will evolve your growth in this lifetime. We all have a purpose - some call it a contract and your 'essence' KNOWS what your purpose is. I came across an excellent article on this topic at tinybudda.com "4 Questions to Help You Let go and Allow Life to Happen". It is written by Lynn Newman and it really resonated with me. The #1 question is "What if you stopped trying to do?" Think about this for a moment - what would happen if you didn't make things happen? What if you simply allowed our life to unfold as your 'essence' would like it to? The next question in this article was "What if you only focused on what is in front of you?". This question reminds me of the book "Power of NOW" written by Eckhart Tolle, that I enjoyed reading. The idea is to BE in the NOW. For example, right now, I am writing out what I would like to say in my podcast and right now, I am taking a drink of water, and right now, I am heading for a walk with my dog. Moving on with these questions, #3 is 'What if you don't know?'. This is an interesting way to look at life. When you think about it - you don't know what is going to happen next. You don't know what the outcome is going to be. Do you really need to know? Doesn't it make life more interesting to NOT know? Think of it as a way of 'going with the flow' - you don't know what is happening next and yet, you are accepting what happens. It is very freeing when you think about it. The 4th question in the article is "Can you handle changing directions?". This is a biggie for quite a few people. When you are 'letting go', you are NOT controlling the outcome, you are not preparing or thinking things out - you are simply allowing whatever happens to happen and 'going with the flow'. Your 'essence' knows the best path to take you on - so whatever comes to you, is serving a purpose. Simply ask what you are to learn from it and continue to go in the direction of the flow. Sometimes, that takes you in a totally different direction than you thought you would be taking. Our job is to LET GO of the control...BE in the NOW...don't worry that you don't know what is coming and simply GO WITH THE FLOW - changing directions if you need to. Everything will fall into place - when the time is right! I would love to hear from you and how this information sits with you!
