A genuine (pure) heart allows a person to receive enlightenment from God. This purity of heart enables him or her to grasp the doctrines (foundations) necessary for righteous living (i.e. how to believe and how to live). By reason of true doctrine, a man is further enlightened to comprehend the hidden meanings of scripture. What constitutes doctrine, and what role does enlightenment play in understanding the hidden meaning (spiritual sense) of scriptures?
This December 2024 End of Year Special Program presents a series on the Word of God. The importance and nature of the Word of God (scriptures) are explained. Teachings are presented on how doctrine and the scriptures can be understood and confirmed. Pastor Jeffrey Walter emphasizes the necessity of preaching the true gospel (repentance and the remission of sins) while highlighting the proper disposition required of "Fishers of Men", urging us to become laborers in the Lord’s harvest.
In this episode titled "Enlightenment (Part 1)", Pastor Jeffrey Walter explains what doctrine is and how a man comes by true doctrine. He teaches how a man qualifies for and receives enlightenment from the Lord. He explains how alignment of the heart with God (through genuine love for God and the neighbour) serves as a basis to come into true understanding of scriptures.
Indeed, those who obey God's commandments and are ready to do His will are enlightened. Such ones will uncover the shining truth, even within the literal sense of the Word. Conversely, a misguided heart often results in misinterpretation and heresies. Are you willing to walk the path of receiving enlightenment from God?
