Early in my career, talking about myself (specifically my accomplishments), both orally and on paper, was, by far, the arduous, most uncomfortable task. I found that I under-represented myself, even on my resume.
I would list skills I had acquired over the years, but never go into detail as to the impact those skills had on my team, manager, and company. My resume was a running list of my capabilities, minus the impact of those abilities. It was easy to see what I bring to the table, but lacking was how my contributions have and can make for a successful team and company.
It is said, when offered a position, women seldom negotiate. We should also add, when searching for a position, women (whether consciously or sub-consciously) almost always, under-represent themselves.
