The principle of repentance (turning away from evils and pursuing righteousness) is a foundational principle that is necessary for the spiritual journey towards the city of God.  

Without this principle alive in us, the Spirit of holiness will not be found in us and hence we cannot produce any results worthy of the Lord's Kingdom.  

We must always view our acts of repentance as vital to our usefulness and without repentance from the evils of our hearts we render ourselves unfit for the Lord's use.
