#020 How to Get Over a Terrible Day

HOW TO GET OVER A TERRIBLE DAY

STOP AND BREATHE . . .

  • Inhale 6 seconds... through the nose
  • Hold 2 seconds
  • Exhale 7 seconds… though the mouth
  • 4x = 1 minute
  • 1st… Define “Terrible”

    • My terrible may not be your terrible. Definitions matter.
    • One big thing or a deluge of little things?
    • Incoming Tide is many little things building up.
    • Tidal Wave is ONE BIG THING.
    • 2nd… Break Down the Pieces

      • One big thing or several not-so-big things?
      • Break it all down.
      • All the little things building up.
      • The ONE big thing… can you break it down?
      • Write them all down on paper (Make a list)
      • 3rd… Become Solution-Oriented

        • Write out possible solutions to each item on the list
        • Remember, there may be more than one solution to each item.
        • 4th… Put the List in Order

          • Most feasible win. Doing this is the easiest to accomplish.
          • Most rewarding win. It’ll feel great to get this one done.
          • Most eliminating win. If I get this win, it will eliminate other  items on my list.
          • 5th… Take Action… one item at a time

            • The first 4 points are all actions you’ve just taken
            • Do what you just decided to do.
            • “THIS TERRIBLE DAY WON’T DEFINE ME!"

              JUST TAKE ACTION… ON JUST ONE THING…
