Often we may know what God expects of us, but we don't think He is going to do anything if we don't do it. That is the way Israel was in the O.T. and in the N.T. (according to Paul), but He did exactly what He said He would do. If we do not believe God will chastise us for disobedience, the temptation to disobey can become overwhelming. Today's command makes us face the fact that God will not let us ignore His commands.
