As some of you know, I have been experimenting with what is called the KETO diet - I like to say lifestyle cause ‘diet’ feels like a negative word. Anyways - when I hear about a certain way of eating, I usually experiment on myself first. I have already held a class on it cause I absolutely LOVE this way of eating. I would like to talk about FAT BOMBS - which I will explain in a bit, what they are all about. I think I better start from the beginning, just in case you are just starting with my podcasts. I was drawn to the keto lifestyle after watching some of Dr Eric Berg’s videos on what sugar does to your body. I was inspired to test it out on myself and have now been KETO for 4 months. Without going into too much detail - KETO is moderate protein (the size of the palm of your hand), lots of veggies and 70-80% fat. WHAT??? You can eat THAT much fat and still lose weight? It is not hard getting to that percentage - at least not with FAT BOMBS. Fat bombs are small treats - which can be made savoury or sweet. My favourite is sweet! And they are so easy to make! You can even do it in 3 simple steps - and 3 ingredients! All I do is melt down a healthy fat - cacao butter, coconut butter, coconut oil, coconut milk or cream - you can use bacon fat, butter - there are so many options here! Now you add in some flavour - vanilla, 100% dark chocolate (I use Giddy Yoyo’s Hundo bar), cacao powder, Himalayan salt, peppermint extract, spices And finally you add in your texture - cacao nibs, almonds pecans, walnuts, chia seeds, shredded coconut, bacon bits if you are making a savoury fat bomb. THAT IS IT - you melt your fat, mix your other ingredients - which is entirely up to you which ones to use. Then you either pour them in to mini muffin cups, or a baking pan, or form into small balls. I haven’t formed them into balls yet - I simply pour them into a loaf pan and put them into the fridge. Once they are solid, I cut them up and they are ready to enjoy. I am making a few different versions of my fat bombs for serving up during the holidays. A healthy choice that will not raise your blood sugar levels!!! I have a container of fat bombs in my fridge so that I can simply go grab one any time I feel like I need more fat.
