024- Measuring success

If you ask a classroom of kindergartners what they want to be when they grow up, they will probably say things like “a doctor”, “a lawyer”, “a firefighter”, “a ballerina”, “Superman”. Even though they all want to be something different, they have (at least) two things in common: 1) very few of them will become what they say they want to be when they grow up, and 2) they made their choice based on what they see as successful.
The American Dream has been people’s standard of success for years, but that seems to be changing. Everyone has their own definition of success and how to achieve it. It is usually relative, based on how you use your talents and the tools life gives you. And it is difficult to compare one person’s success to another’s, especially if they are successful in different ways.
Ultimately, there is no universal understanding of success, so the only person who can determine whether or not you are successful is you. So, are you on the road to success?
