A couple of weeks ago I was fortunate enough for Lee Shepherd to ask me to drop of some tunes at DARK IN THE JUNGLE and it got me thinking.

What does JUNGLE mean to me or to you? And with that I curated a playlist for the event...

However, when I stepped up to connect the laptop it wouldn't work. No matter what I tried I just couldn't get the tech to work, so I drew for the back up plan - a memory stick I hastily picked up as I was on the way out of the door.

I plugged it in and realised it wasn't actually one of my memory sticks! It was full of tunes I'd never played before and some I'd only heard for the first time... *Big up to Tommy Baillie for leaving it round mine (y)

The realisation dawned on me I'd have to play this set with someone else tunes, on unfamilar kit and without any practice - but and as I loaded up the 2nd track, it dawned on me - this is what Jungle means to Tom... and with that I ended up playing some tracks that I would never have even thought about as Jungle...

On the drive home after the rave I had another realisation - Jungle covers a broad spectrum of the Drum and Bass scene, from dark amen breaks to soulful medlodic rnb bootlegs and big booming 808's to gnarly twisted basslines, the spectrum is very broad!

And with that I've compiled 2 brand new studio mixes that capture the vibe of that night and what I would define as JUNGLE!!!

The first mix is based on what I was going to play that night, but didn't get the chance.
