Mixblog Podcast

We're back with a brand new season of mixes, kicking off with what I’ve called a ‘Soul Mix’. This mix is full of singers and instrumentals with a sprinkling of outright classics and ultimately music with soul.

I had an absolute blast putting this one together, diving into archives and my inbox to uncover those past, present, and future classics!

The full track listinging is available on the blog, but it's got tracks by Calibre, Lenzman, Alix Perez, Salo, LSB, and many more of that ilk.

Mixblog #38 - Cemtex & H2Flo LIVE from BREAK THRU 2024. These recordings are taken from 2 different Break Thru events with LSB & DRS at Hare & Hounds on 1st March and 26th August with LTJ Bukem respectively. Unfortunately, on both occasions, I was unable to record the whole set; however, 2 is better than 1, right? Expect liquid drum and bass, jungle, rollers, classics, and as always, a few exclusives thrown in there too for good measure.

Many thanks to Tom for the hosting each and everytime always an absolute pleasure when you host my sets, these were an absolute roll out.

Enjoy and I’ll see you in the next one

"Established in 2011 Kompas Audio was started by my good friend Krystian aka Dj Lunatic and is all about showcasing some of the best underground drum & bass, visually as well as audibly via live stream sessions.

This project was truly born out of our passion for Drum & Bass, Jungle, Vinyl and Live gigs - essentially all of what electronic music culture is about.

So when our paths crossed we soon realised that we shared the same passion for music and art so he welcomed me aboard to the Kompass team.

Its was a great pleasure to roll out a set for Mixblog, Anthony asked me to dig deep so I trawled through my collection and put together some of my favourite deep, soulful & atmospheric tunes from over the years, some of the gems I don’t always get the chance to play.

Hope you enjoy!

Chris"

I’ve always been into all sorts of dance music, from House and UKG to Old Skool Hardcore and Techno, Breaks, Bass, 130, 140, 160 (yes I realise I’m just saying numbers now but I think you get the point). I’m into lots of different music not just drum and bass.

So with that and for this podcast I’ve recorded some vinyls, pested mates for track ids and delved deep back into the world of House, Garage and Bass for a 90 min journey through past present and future music. And I suppose that’s the ethos behind the event; Be_Social

The idea is to bring people together through music - ditch the socials and screens for an evening, come shake a leg and catch 2 joke. And what better way to do that with a bunch of timeless classics, a fair dose of bass heavy bangers and some fresh meat in there for the hungry ones.

Hopefully see you on 27th Jan for a disco.

Thanks for listening!

Shut The Door (Original Mix)

Pulling one from the archives for this months podcast and it’s a live mix taken from Break Thru earlier this year in March.

We landed at the venue fresh from an ALL day rave in Bristol, so I was in full on party mode by the time we arrived Hare & Hounds for the event. We’d made a bunch of new friends on the train, even dragged a few of em along for the rave too. We we’re talking about all things dnb on the journey back to brum and were all so engrossed in conversation a couple of our new firends even missed their stop!!!

Whilst a little rough around the edges, this mix fully captures the vibe we we’re all on that day. Loads of classic liquid dnb bangers with a healthy dose of rollers!!

Founded in 1997, Future Thinkin began life as separate artists before combining forces and becoming club promoters and label owners.

Since then FT have been firm fixtures in the DnB Landscape and are responsible for events including Traffic, an award winning, Full Spectrum dnb night, as well as a pre-digital label that focused on providing a platform for new artists and gave many, now established producers their first releases.

This mix is a 90 journey of forward thinking Liquid and Rolling dnb with a healthy sprinkling of amen jungle.

So when Jay Dubz asked me to drop a mix for his Onward Show I was only more than happy to fire the decks up!

This one is full of fresh upfront liquid heaters with my usual dose of back a day bangers!!

For the latest mix in the series I've gone in heavy on the classics, some of which you may have heard me drop in my recent live sets.

Anyway enough waffle from me, cos round here we let the music do the talking, so crank up the volume and for this extended mix of classic liquid and rolling drum and bass - 29 tracks, 90 minutes Let's GO!!
