  • #030 - Taelimb - February 2023
Kicking the year off Taelimb has dropped us an exclusive mix absolutley FULL of fresh rolling Drum and Bass bangers!!!
TAELIMB was born and bred in the heart of South London’s creative melting pot. The rising producer spent his teenage years hanging out at Stockwell skate board park, graffing walls and making beats with mates.
Early favourites, such as Ed Rush, Optical, Teebee and Cause For Concern drew him into Drum and Bass production. Taelimb, then still underground and yet to be named, spent years buried in his music; he built up his knowledge of music production and moved deeper into the London Club scene.
8 years later and he has transformed from amateur, to becoming one of the listed ‘ones to watch,’ recognised for his unique take on the D&B and Dubstep movement.
Why? Maybe it’s his complex compositions. Tracks like ‘Depth charge’ show intricate harmonies, resonated over layered samples and then styled to atmospheric depths. Never one to follow the crowd, Taelimb’s gritty urban surroundings fly across his tracks. His experimental sound have rapidly become signatures, stamped and printed across his beats.

  • #029 - Constant - December 2022
For those who don’t know, I’ve always been into a variety of genres of electronic music. For this episode, we’re dropping the tempo and changing up the vibe for a journey into all things bass!
I caught up with Constant whilst we were in Sardinia back in September and asked him to do the honours and grace us with a Mixblog entry!
After getting into electronic music through drum and bass well over a decade ago, it didn’t take long for his horizons to broaden to other areas of bass-focused music. With a curious ear and a soft spot for anything with groove, soul or a trippy edge (regardless of tempo), this opened up a world of possibilities as a listener and selector. Outside of the DJ booth, he’s experimenting with his productions and is also a writer for online bass music publication, UKF.
Constant’s 60 minute mix gives us a snapshot of what he’s feeling in the 130-160 BPM range at the moment, taking us through a spectrum of electro, breaks, dubstep and footwork (and much more).
You can check more of his mixes and writing for UKF at the links below

  • #028 - Cemtex - Dark Jungle Mix 1 November 2022
A couple of weeks ago I was fortunate enough for Lee Shepherd to ask me to drop of some tunes at DARK IN THE JUNGLE and it got me thinking.
What does JUNGLE mean to me or to you? And with that I curated a playlist for the event...
However, when I stepped up to connect the laptop it wouldn't work. No matter what I tried I just couldn't get the tech to work, so I drew for the back up plan - a memory stick I hastily picked up as I was on the way out of the door.
I plugged it in and realised it wasn't actually one of my memory sticks! It was full of tunes I'd never played before and some I'd only heard for the first time... *Big up to Tommy Baillie for leaving it round mine (y)
The realisation dawned on me I'd have to play this set with someone else tunes, on unfamilar kit and without any practice - but and as I loaded up the 2nd track, it dawned on me - this is what Jungle means to Tom... and with that I ended up playing some tracks that I would never have even thought about as Jungle...
On the drive home after the rave I had another realisation - Jungle covers a broad spectrum of the Drum and Bass scene, from dark amen breaks to soulful medlodic rnb bootlegs and big booming 808's to gnarly twisted basslines, the spectrum is very broad!
And with that I've compiled 2 brand new studio mixes that capture the vibe of that night and what I would define as JUNGLE!!!
The first mix is based on what I was going to play that night, but didn't get the chance.

  • #26 - Low:r - June 2022
Low:r - taking things high:r and high:r with every manoeuvre. A key artist on highly respected labels such as Galacy, Liquicity, Spearhead, Soulvent and Program, his funk-fired, soul-packed signature has become more and more of a prominent flavour on the drum & bass menu since his first release in 2016.
Rooted in the rudiments, Ben Downton has always lived a musical life. As an accomplished violin player, and a member of the West Sussex Strings, he performed in cathedrals and churches across the UK throughout his teens. Swapping the bow for the bass guitar, he then played in various bands before electronic music, bass culture and the allure of the studio took over his life.Inspired by the music’s strong sense of community, and driven to constantly rise to the never-ending challenge of production, he first cut his teeth as a dubstep DJ before he developed the Low:r alias you see and hear today.
With a name taken from a factory test unit, and an industrial strength sense of ambition and creativity to match, the Low:r sound is playfully unpredictable and dynamic but consistently charged with a widescreen sense of mischief and musicality. This is reflected both in his scene-supported releases and his DJs sets, which have ranged from shows at the iconic Brixton Electric to the renowned Liquicity Festival, Holland.
With the bookings matching his ever-expanding sound, and spreading further around the D&B-loving globe, Low:r has become a significant member of the new-generation of artists pushing the culture into exciting new directions. With each release growing in size and scale, expect the Low:r sound to become more prominent as we move into the future. Let’s take things high:r.

  • #24 - Jay Dubz & H2Flo (Midlands DnB set) - June 2022
    Jay Dubz
Originally from Wolverhampton and now living in the picturesque town of Shrewsbury, Jay Dubz continues to push his sound to the like-minded.
DJing for just shy of 20 years, his roots come from pirate radio sub-culture where he got his first break on legendary Midlands based pirate station Dimension FM in 2003 at the age of 15. He then went on to found Midlands Rush with Naypan in 2006 - a station specifically catering for quality Underground sounds.
In 2011 he co-founded Shrewsbury based night Perception alongside head promoter Bazland and resident DJ Conspire which brought acts like Goldie, LTJ Bukem, Calibre, Marcus Intalex, Lenzman, Fabio, Grooverider, Bryan G, Jumping Jack Frost, Furney and many more to liven up Shrewsbury in the event’s spiritual home The Vaults and The Buttermarket respectively.
His production venture started in 2017 after CPH popped round one night for a brew and ended in creating Shadow of the Past, a co-lab which was released on Scott Allen’s Soul Deep Recordings imprint. From then on, co-labs and solo releases have been flowing on imprints including Lunar, Influence, Smooth N Groove and more.
He continues to DJ over the UK, pushing his sound which isn’t strictly pigeon holed by any certain sub-genre, so long as it has a vibe and is bass-ridden. He also hosts the Onward Show on Bassdrive.com which airs every second and fourth Friday of the Month, 7-9PM UK time and 1-3PM CDT.
