028. How to Guide a Conversation… Not Perform an Interrogation

In this episode of Becoming Super Podcast, Scott and Angelica discuss how to guide a conversation, not force it, when you are building rapport and introducing your business to someone.

Sometimes, especially when you are still developing the skill of conversation and networking, you can tend to focus on asking your 'list of questions', rather than letting the conversation flow naturally.

How can you fix this?

First and foremost - LISTEN! Ask your first question, and listen to what they say in response.

Be curious and respond to what they said - don’t jump straight to the next question on your list, especially if it doesn’t make sense.

Ask open-ended questions instead of yes/no questions.

Be genuinely interested. Do not pretend you care about shoes if you don't, people will see right through that - but you can be interested in what got that person interested in shoes!
