Man is strong willed and would want to seek God on his terms. This “puffed up” seeking of God lacks a genuine recognition of man’s desperate need for God. It is for this reason that God allows man to go through the wilderness (temptations). Here again, the strong willed man (who has not been humbled by the Lord) considers himself capable of determining what is good for himself. How does a man truly come to a place of utter desperation, in order to humbly receive exactly what God intends for him to have?
In this series, Pastor Jeffrey Walter teaches on the need for the inevitable internal sufferings, experienced in the midst of our external (outward) circumstantial sufferings. He highlights how we need not fear God's eternal will concerning them, but rather embrace them for our strengthening. He explains how although they are not instigated by the Lord, He uses them all the same for His purposes in our lives. If we go through them righteously, we will land at the sure place of victory.
In this episode, “What You Think You Need And What You Actually Need”, Pastor Jeffrey Walter draws invaluable lessons from the temptations of Jesus on the cross to demonstrate how God, who does not bend to our will, breaks us and brings us to the end of ourselves. Additionally, he explains how this needful desperation is an inevitable step towards finding the Lord. Finally, he shares useful nuggets on how we must deal with others, bearing responsibility for one another, as part of our spiritual raising.
This message will awaken you to the need to yield to God's terms and to surrender to the wisdom by which He is training you.
Note: This message is one of a 3-part series, preached during the CAFAN Special Programme held in Accra, from Aug 2nd to Aug 4th, 2024. Kindly listen to the entire series for a complete appreciation.
