Fried Apple Pork Chops
What You Will Need:
measuring spoons
a bottle opener
a can opener
A large non-stick skillet
a skewer
cooking spoons
paper towels
Ingredients:
4 bone-in center-cut pork loin chops (about 2 3/4 pounds)
½ teaspoon of salt
½ teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons of canola oil
½ cup of apple cider
1 (15 ounce) can of fried apples
2 tablespoons of butter
Hot cooked rice, optional
Fresh thyme leaves, for garnish
Cooking Directions:
Sprinkle pork chops on both sides with salt and pepper.
Heat oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the pork chops;
cook for 4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
Remove the pork chops from the pan;
keep warm.
Add the apple cider to the pan;
reduce the heat to low.
Cook for 30 seconds,
stirring to loosen the browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
Return the pork chops to the skillet.
Add the fried apples.
Cook for 2 minutes,
or until the apples are thoroughly heated,
breaking up the apples with a spoon during cooking.
Stir in the butter until melted.
Serve pork chops with sauce.
Serve over hot cooked rice, if desired.
Garnish with thyme leaves.
Makes 4 servings.
Hints and Tips for the Kitchen:
Washing Dishes:
* To quickly remove food that's stuck to enamelware or to a casserole dish, fill with boiling water and add 2 tablespoons of baking soda.
* Remember, when loading your dishwasher, be sure that the silver and the stainless steel do not touch each other, as pitting may occur.
Caring for Copper Pots:
* Try toothpaste.
* Dip lemon halves (after the juice has been extracted) in salt and rub. Rinse.
* Rub with Worcestershire sauce. Or another good substitute is ketchup. Rub and the tarnish will disappear.
