Humiliation and letting people down happen and these are real fears that keep us from moving forward. Listen to this episode to find out how I handled a situation that recently took place in my own life.
IN THIS EPISODE
16 Can I share with you the most embarrassing thing I've done recently? Humiliating to be sure but I think I've hurt someone in the process. Let me tell you the story. We're at my niece and nephew's birthday party recently and I wrote her card out just fine, but I wrote the wrong name on his card! And I felt awful emotions while I was sitting there watching him open a card addressed to his brother.
56 What do you do when you feel like you let someone down? These things happen and these are real fears. It's the fear of experiencing these emotions that keep us from doing things.
41 Let me tell you how I handled this. In that moment, I took responsibility for making a mistake. By me being humble and vulnerable allowed my nephew to accept my apology.
48 How does this translate to business? I had a client I talked to recently who is dealing with this in her business. My client's business started taking off and becoming successful, and her business started going in the wrong direction. Her business partners and collaborators called her out on it and she started feeling humiliated like she let those people down.
48 This experience was a wake-up call that I'm doing too much and taking on too much. I'm not allowing myself to be in the present. For my client, that feeling was a reminder to check in and re-evaluate her mission. She also had to take responsibility for where she was at that point.
53 People don't expect you to have all the answers. They don't. And to pretend that we do is exhausting. When you ask for help, they feel more connected to you.
35 Letting someone down and then reconnecting with them builds a stronger bond with them. If you handle this experience in the right way, it will be a blessing in disguise.
43 Are you in a situation similar to this? How has it impacted you? Please share your story, I'd love to get to know you better. Share it in the Facebook community.
