On June 7, 2021, Alex Murdaugh called the police. “My wife and son have been shot badly. Please hurry”, he pleaded in his deep, Southern drawl. Within two years, Alex would be found guilty of murdering his 22 year old son and his wife of 28 years in cold blood. But why? To begin to understand the motives and manipulation of Alex Murdaugh, you have to start at the beginning. This week, Emily walks us through the three murders connected to this notorious family: Stephen Smith, Gloria Satterfield, and Mallory Beach.
