04 When Ye Pray

Listen Later

The Lord has already set before us the path to deliverance from life’s afflictions, yet we often fail to follow it. Instead, we lean on our own efforts—guided by our senses—in an attempt to save ourselves, even when it leads us away from the true freedom He desires for us. True freedom, however, is experienced only when we cease from our own striving and return to the path the Lord has set for our deliverance.

In this message titled “When Ye Pray - Part 4,” Pastor Jeffrey Walter presents the Lord’s pathway to true deliverance, explaining that responding to life’s problems from a ‘fight or flight’ state inevitably leads to defeat. He cautions against relying on the strength of our flesh (senses) and urges us to quieten down its desires and falsities,  restraining ourselves from its dictates, especially in prayer. He presents practical guidance on obtaining inward stillness through doctrine, songs, and effective prayer. Though walking the Lord’s prescribed path is great labour, full of agitation in the flesh, he encourages all believers to pursue it, emphasising its immense blessings and assuring that when we return to God in our afflictions, the answer to our deliverance is always ‘Yea and Amen.”

This message will empower you to strive for inward stillness, so that you can encounter God and experience His true deliverance.

Key Scriptures: Isaiah 30:15-16 (KJV)

15 For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.

16 But ye said, No; for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift.

Psalm 46:10 (KJV)

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Other Scriptures:  Matthew 6:33; 2 Corinthians 1:20 [All Scriptures in KJV]
