Guest Stella McMillan joins the Men in the Arena. Stella was born a bilateral congenital amputee (meaning she was born without legs), was abandoned at birth, and spent the first few years of her life in an orphanage in Vietnam. She was then adopted and raised on the south side of Chicago.
Stella is a J.D. Candidate at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law. She was previously selected for Junior Team USA for track, received an athletic scholarship to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for basketball and was nominated 1st Team All-American.
We spoke with her about her life journey, stigmas associated with the disabled population, her relationship with gratitude, and why she’s choosing to go to law school + how she hopes to be remembered.
