060: What Romantic Relationships Teach Us About Ourselves with Staci Alexander
In today’s episode, Staci Alexander joins me as we talk about how romantic relationships are actually just a mirror of our relationship with ourselves. The way we attract certain people and the reason those relationships don’t tend to work out is not that you’re a bad person or your partner is a bad person. What it really comes down to is your relationship with yourself, the level of awareness you’re at, and the clarity of what you’re experiencing.
Being able to recognize those patterns of behaviors in a relationship that don’t allow you to be your authentic self is part of the self-relationship work. And one of the first steps is knowing who you really are because only then can you move forward to become a better version of yourself, a person who is nowhere near the person you were many years ago when you attracted those situations.
Nothing is going to be 100% perfect. But if you can find and integrate those pieces of you that have been scattered across your life experience, you will learn and grow from a place of love. You will then start to operate from a heart space without beating yourself up anymore because you now understand that when your past traumas show up in a relationship, it means there’s work to be done – within you. And as you’re developing a relationship of trust and surrender within yourself, you will in turn attract the partner that’s right for you in the most authentic, beautiful way.
