073: Empathy & Specification

Listen Later

Be specific about the goal.
Cultivate empathy for others.
I Do this by...
• Strengthening Relationships...
And in order to strengthen them, I must...
- Maintain Presence
- Audit Exposure
- Become Familiar With Emotion
First, Specification...
Sometimes we may say "oh yeah I want to make an impact", but if we're not specific about what kind of impact and how then we can just as easily make a negative one on others such as a spouse if we take more time building a business instead of building listening. Or perhaps a negative impact on the business or any sort of execution because we are spreading ourselves too thin.
It all comes down to specification. Yes there is a certain level of tolerance in routines but the goal of life is getting up when you fall down. I too am working on this all the time. Trying to be as specific as I can about what I truly want to see happen with everything that I do. Regardless of the result within that shapeshifting vision I recognized a pattern.
• Maintain Presence
It's about the cycles of the passing tides and revolving suns. We are more alike with nature than I think we care to believe. If you look up the vast amounts of financially successful people in the world in all genres there are many commonalities that are discussed but the one thing I've found that is not discussed on a deep enough level is the power of the present moment. When we get lost in this place of refuge and solitude within our own mind enough to get completely enveloped to the point where it is almost slow motion and you can just feel every ounce of bliss in the creation, that is when you receive your potential. Then once you add some self belief in the mix we can all truly be off to the races. That was brief but I do go more in depth about this in my upcoming book! Also there is...
• Audit Exposure
That's the difference between the successful and unsuccessful. If you are wanting to take a step further what is your version of success in general? Most people think it's the attention or acknowledgement or even solely the affirmation from others. Some just put their focus onto money and cars but at the end of the day what I believe is that it's our reflections.
Can you put the mirror up to yourself? Or can you only shine that mirror on others and keep comparing yourself to these false and imaginary beliefs that may or may not even be what you're really after. Any judgement we do cast is only our own insecurities within self.
Also what do you believe is even possible? Do you believe the person you idolize on television or through social had the exact same resources you had? Not exactly. Sometimes there are rare cases but even using myself as an example I used to idolize Eminem, the globally famous hip hop rapper. Now I do not idolize anyone but learn from everyone as use them as mentors. It has changed though from Eminem to people such as Aubrey Marcus or David Meltzer or even Tony Robbins. What called me to these people was because I was so tired of being broke. It wasn't until I dove deeper that I exposed an untapped knowledge I now crave more than any new song that comes out. There are certain things I've taken from others. Pieces of what worked for them at times where they experienced things that were similar to me. It is impossible to just simply match a persons life because we all have different circumstances in which we're placed. However if you can find the people and ideas that are relative to you and execute on the parts of their lives that are similar. Don't just assume everything works out for everyone because you could love being an entrepreneur one day and then turn around and absolutely love being the coach of your child's sports team. Things change. So don't limit your self believe and remain open minded with who you are versus who you want and allow yourself to become. At the end of the day we are who we hang around. So surround yourself with others that make you learn and grow and be better tha
