I used to hide the fact that I was in recovery. I had a fear of what others would think and how they would judge me. As I worked on my sobriety I came to realize that no matter what I do or say that there may always be a stigma around addiction. I had to understand that I could not change the way people thought, I could only change the way I showed up in life. Today I no longer fear what others will think because I understand that my addiction is what inspired me to help others and now I want to bring more awareness to this disease. I am proud of the life I have created as a result of what I've been through and I can't let others affect that. I can only do my best to show that those of us in recovery are capable of doing amazing things and helping others.
