Everything in life is a transaction.

I give you money, you give me the product.

I work for you, and you pay me money.

I buy you a gift for your birthday, you buy me a gift for my birthday.

Did the last one catch your attention?

It’s easy to see where transactions are helpful in the society we live in. I wouldn't want someone looting my store and not paying for anything.

But where are you functioning from transactional reality and not realizing it?

If someone does something nice for you, do you immediately start thinking of what you can do in return? Are you keeping score and trying to make it even? Or better yet, make sure others are in a deficit with you?

Keeping score cards and functioning from transactional reality can only get you so far.
