Tough love brought me to recovery and tough love has been part of what has kept me here. When I was in my addiction I resisted the tough love method. I blamed everyone else for my problems except myself. If people enabled my behaviour it just kept me in my addiction longer. Having people tell me the truth out of love has been a life saver. So next time someone cares about you enough to tell you the truth even if it hurts your feelings, it could just be the thing you need to hear to save your life.
