No human is exempt from its lure. There are seasons and situations that cause frustration and headache that easily and naturally draws toward self-pity. When we are there, it seems the most reasonable and normal thing to do. To muse on and think about what happened. To allow it to replay in our minds in a looping fashion, with each replay regenerating within the same feelings and physiology that we suffered when it originally happened. The question is not: will self-pity ensnare me? The real question is: Is it helpful to my soul to remain in self-pity, and is it God's best for me?
I invite you to join me as we consider together how deeply we suffer from allowing ourselves to remain in this painful loop, and how can we break free and experience the fullness and joy of the freedom Jesus died to provide for you and me.
