Awareness is key. If you aren't aware of your thoughts, actions, or reactions, how could you change them? We have to focus and be aware of the right things or else we are looking in the wrong direction. The simple step of being aware can diminish so many unresolved and subconscious feelings and emotions because finally you have the space to be aware, and not feel like you are your emotions, because you aren't. 

Consciousness and presence is also key.
