Everybody keeps saying ChatGPT and AI are going to save you hours. Nobody talks about what AI for moms actually looks like when you’re in your 40s with kids going in different directions and about a thousand things already on your plate.
The last thing you need is another tool that takes all weekend to figure out. The biggest opportunity I’ve found is much simpler. Use AI to spend less time figuring out the things you’re already doing.
In this episode, I walk through three ways I use ChatGPT in everyday life. We start with planning a week that fits your real schedule. Then we get into health goals, and why the plan is usually what needs fixing. Last is meal planning, which used to eat up my whole weekend.
I’m also talking about where AI isn’t the answer. Sometimes the setup takes longer than the task, and some decisions need your own judgment. I spent years in corporate teaching people new tools, and I still love trying them. Not every impressive tool saves you time, though, and I want to help you spot the difference.
Copy one, paste it into ChatGPT or Claude, and answer the questions it asks you.
Plan a realistic week
Help me create a realistic plan for this week. Ask me questions one at a time. First, ask about my work hours, existing commitments, and kids’ activities. Then ask what absolutely must happen this week and what I’d simply like to accomplish. Estimate how much time my priorities actually require, and tell me honestly if I’m trying to fit more into the week than I have time for. Help me choose what realistically fits, leave buffer time for things that come up, and suggest what can wait until next week. Don’t schedule every minute of my day.
Make your health goal fit your real schedule
I’m working toward a personal health or fitness goal, but my current plan doesn’t fit my schedule. Ask me questions one at a time about my goal, the time I actually have, and what has caused me to miss planned activities. If I keep missing the same workout or activity, help me figure out what that’s telling me about the plan: the timing, the amount, or whether the goal needs to shift for now. Then help me create three versions: an ideal-week plan, a realistic busy-week plan, and a minimum plan for unusually demanding weeks. Keep the recommendations realistic and don’t assume I need to do more. If I mention pain, an injury, or a health condition, suggest I check with my doctor before changing my plan.
Tired of answering "what's for dinner?" every single night? If meal planning for your family keeps falling apart, this episode is for busy moms who are done winging dinner.
My worst dinner disaster isn't burning dinner. It's never making one. It's 6:45, nothing's figured out, and the frozen pizza comes out again. Everybody eats. Nobody is harmed. But there's still that little voice acting like the pizza is evidence you dropped the ball.
In this episode, I'm talking about why "what's for dinner" wears you out, and why it's not really about the food. It's dinner decision fatigue. Every day, breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner are all waiting to be invented again from scratch, and those decisions sit in your head while you work, drive, and juggle practice schedules. With the holidays coming, every party, school program, and cookie exchange adds more to that mental load.
I also share why the usual fixes (new healthy recipes, a big grocery list, a weekly meal plan someone else wrote) add more decisions instead of fewer, why Sunday meal planning keeps falling apart, and the personalized meal planning system I built for my own family.

Your routine looks a lot less impressive than it used to. Same few breakfasts, fewer workout days, a tracker you stopped filling out. So are you making progress, or did you just lower the bar?
Honestly, that’s a fair question. And I’m not going to tell you everything you stopped doing was automatically the right thing to stop.
In the last episode, we talked about how to start when your to-do list is too long. This week is about what happens after you’ve made the plan and it turns into a lot to keep up with. More recipes, more prep, a tracker, a new workout plan, a morning routine that’s supposed to make it all happen before anybody else needs you. Taking care of yourself starts to come with homework. So we’re looking at what your simpler routine is actually producing, and whether you can let it count.

I have a list of things I keep saying I want to do. Get stronger, eat a little better, finish that project, figure out what I actually like wearing. And somewhere on there, stop being surprised that everyone needs dinner again.
If you have a list like that too, this episode is about picking one thing off it and finding a place to start that actually fits your life. Because "I need to get my life together" is a lot to put in the middle of the week.
Welcome to the very first episode of 1% Better in Midlife! If you've been listening to Real Food, Real Energy, Real Life, welcome back. You're in the right place.
I still care about nutrition and fitness, and we're going to talk about them a lot. But I kept noticing the same thing, including with a lot of my clients: women who want to feel better and struggle to stick with what they start. Sometimes the thing you picked doesn't fit your life, or you don't even like it, or the goal is just too big for everything you have going on right now.
So in this first episode, I'm sharing how "plan meals" turned into an entire project for me, and how you can pick one thing on your list and make the first step small enough that you'll actually do it.

Five things about healthy eating I do not believe anymore.
One of them will make you rethink every snack in your pantry.
This one is different from my usual walk-through-a-framework episodes. After years of trying to make this work, both in my own house with three teenage boys and with the women I coach, five patterns kept showing up. Smart women who already know plenty about nutrition, stuck in exactly the same spot.
So here it is. Five things I have landed on, and the actual mechanism under each one. Blood sugar. Insulin response. Decision fatigue by 5pm. The part most healthy eating advice leaves out entirely.
In this episode:
- Why a "healthy" cookie can still wreck your afternoon, and what makes a plate hold
- The one rule about carbs that changes how your blood sugar responds to the identical food
- Why the scale is almost always the last thing to tell you something is working
- The afternoon craving, and what is actually happening in your body during it
- Why diets fail, and why it is not the diet
- The thing hiding underneath nearly every healthy eating problem, wearing a different costume each time
This episode is for you if you've searched:
- healthy eating myths
- why do diets fail
- why do I crave sugar in the afternoon
- blood sugar and cravings
- do healthy snacks actually work

The scale tells one story - but not the whole one. When estrogen shifts, your body stores fat differently and muscle drops fast if you're not protecting it. You could be losing muscle, gaining lean mass, and watching the number stay frozen. Here are the 5 things that prove you're winning, even when the scale doesn't move - and why your midlife nutrition strategy needs to measure them instead. In this episode:
- What the scale is actually measuring at 6:47am, and why it has no idea how hard you have worked
- Why two women at the same weight can have completely different bodies
- The muscle loss problem in midlife that most women never hear about until it is underway
- Why your clothes are a more honest tracker than any number
- The five signals that show change is happening before the scale catches up
- What my client noticed at twelve weeks that mattered more than the seven pounds
- The one Friday question that tells you whether this is actually taking root
This episode is for you if you've searched:
- scale not moving but clothes fit better
- how to tell if it's working without the scale
- why isn't the scale moving
- should I weigh myself every day
- my weight won't budge

Real Food. Real Energy. Real Life. is a weekly podcast on healthy eating and real energy for moms holding it all together.
You ate in your car again. And the voice in your head was not kind about it.
You left the house on caffeine and good intentions, it is somehow already 1pm, you are standing in a parking lot absolutely feral, and the drive-through is right there. So you go. Then you spend the afternoon feeling like you failed a test nobody told you about.
That voice is lying, and I am going to show you why.
Eating falls apart in summer because the invisible structure that was quietly running your nutrition all school year disappeared overnight. No predictable meals, cortisol all over the place, and by 1pm there is no mental bandwidth left to make a good decision with. That is a structure problem, not a character one.
Three shifts, and none of them require a Sunday you do not have.
In this episode:
- Why summer is structurally harder for eating well than any other stretch of the year
- What happens to cortisol and blood sugar when you skip breakfast and run errands until 1pm
- The five things to keep in the fridge so you can put together a real meal in minutes
- Why meal planning specifically fails in summer, and what to do instead
- Anchor meals, and how three of them can hold an entire week
- The one habit that prevents most drive-through moments before they happen
- What the reactive cycle actually costs you, beyond the food itself
This episode is for you if you've searched:
- how to eat healthy on the go
- I eat in my car every day
- what to eat when there's no time to plan
- how to stop grabbing whatever's around
- eating out of the pantry at 4pm

Summer blew up your schedule again. The gym is gone, meal prep is a memory, the kids are home, the fridge looks like it was stocked by someone who dislikes you, and you are three days into eating goldfish over the sink.
Same.
Here is the thing to hear before anything else: summer did not destroy your habits. It destroyed the scaffolding your habits were standing on. School drop-off was holding your morning together. Practice at 5 was deciding when dinner happened. Take those away and the habits do not have anything to hang on.
That is actually good news, because scaffolding is rebuildable and character is not.
Last summer I ran my kids to camp four times a day and made exactly one decision: summer was not taking my morning walk. That single anchor held three months together.
In this episode:
- Why losing the structure is different from losing the habit, and why that matters
- The one anchor habit that held my whole summer, and how to find yours
- The all-or-nothing gym problem, and what to do when a full workout is not happening
- Anchor meals, and why two or three is genuinely enough
- Why skipping breakfast makes midsection storage worse, not better
- The difference between a rigid schedule and a rhythm, and why one survives June
- How to stop hiding your habits from your family and build them in instead
This episode is for you if you've searched:
- how to eat healthy with no routine
- my whole schedule fell apart
- eating healthy when the kids are home
- how to stay on track in summer
- what to eat when there's no plan
