As a young drummer, Cindy Blackman Santana was in the unique position of being mentored by some of the true jazz greats, including Alan Dawson, Art Blakey and Tony Williams.
Unsurprisingly, she has become a formidable band leader, releasing a variety of solo albums over the last four decades. She appeared on the global stage when she started playing drums for Lenny Kravitz in 1993, going on to work with him for another 18 years before joining Carlos Santana’s band in 2010.
