Curiously You | Who You Are Matters

1: Following the Clues to Your Purpose With Laura McEgan

Listen Later

Welcome to Episode 1 Curious Friends!

This episode is for those of us out there who find we spend our lives in seeking and escaping mode, believing that the grass is always greener.

Using Laura’s story of the ever-seeking endless traveller we uncover how she clarified her purpose through following the small signs that popped up through her journey, and also doing more of what she loved and made her feel calm and centred: yoga. It wasn’t all that clear cut to begin with, there were many false starts, and lost moments where she didn’t know what she was doing, all the while slowly running out of money.

In this episode we dig into the way that Laura transitioned into her new identity and career, and how she managed to strike the perfect balance of all the things that light her up: travel, yoga and teaching in the face of her fears. We discuss why it is great to spend time on the activity that makes you feel focused, safe and stress-free, because when we connect with our deep inner needs in this way - and what feels "right" - we are finding the clues to our purpose, even though when looked at separately none of the pieces of the puzzle made a lot of sense.

We cover Forgiveness, of both loved ones and those we resent. The energetic body and how we can cut ourselves off energetically from those who deplete us. We speak and give examples of affirmations and mantras, how we can gain energy from our work, and how having appropriate focus and faith that the universe is conspiring to help us brings about positive occurrences in our lives.

If you are thinking about solo travel, feeling uncomfortable in your career but not sure how to make a change (or the thought scares you), and if you find it hard to escape negative self-talk then you’ll definitely want to listen to this episode.

Three Key Take Homes

  1. You can debate all the live long day about the things you want to do in life, but at the end of the day you have to just sit in your fears, do it, and think to yourself “what’s the worst that could happen?”
  2. Everything in the universe is conspiring to help you, if you believe that then you will succeed.
  3. When seen separately all the different parts of you life may not make much sense in terms of the next step you need to take, but have faith they will find the best way to hand together, and be aware and grasp opportunities as they come your way.

Curious Question

When you think about all the small things in your life that when seen separately do not make much sense, how can you find a common thread throughout them that might hint toward your purpose?
