John desires that we have fellowship with the Father, with His Son and with other believers so that our joy would be complete. He reveals that God is Light and in Him there is no darkness at all and refutes false teachers who claim that they walk in the light and have no sin. By contrast, we are able to walk in that light because we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He has made a way for us.
