Today’s reading takes us to 1 Peter 2, where Peter moves from the beauty of our salvation into the shape of our spiritual growth. Because we have been born again through the living Word, we are called to put away malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander—anything that does not look like Jesus—and crave the pure spiritual milk of God’s Word like newborn infants longing to grow.

Peter reminds us that Jesus is the living stone, rejected by men but chosen and precious to God. And now, in Him, we are living stones being built into a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, and a people with a new likeness, a new location, and a new lineage. We do not stumble because we do not know the Word; we grow because we come to Christ, taste that the Lord is good, and stay close to the God who is building us together for His glory.
