Today’s reading takes us to Hosea 4 and 5, where the tragedy moves from Hosea’s home to Hosea’s homeland. God speaks, and His people reject Him. There is no truth, no steadfast love, and no knowledge of God in the land—only lying, stealing, murder, adultery, and spiritual rebellion. The people are destroyed not because knowledge was unavailable, but because they rejected the knowledge of God.
Hosea 4 and 5 remind us that rebellion is not mainly inability; it is unwillingness. God speaks, the people reject, God warns, and eventually God withdraws. So today, read these chapters with a sober heart: do not ignore the God who is calling you, do not mistake His patience for permission, and return to Him while He is near.
