The Battle of Uhud: Defeat or Success of the Muslims
#ThebattleOfUhud History
of Uhud took place on the 17th of Shawwal, 3 AH (March 23, 625 CE) between the Muslims and the polytheists of Mecca in the foothills of Uhud. The leadership of the polytheists was with Abu Sufyan, and he launched an attack on the Muslims with over 3000 individuals. The attack was planned and prepared meticulously.
The leadership of the #Muslims was undertaken by the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him and his progeny. The outcome of this battle cannot be classified as a clear victory or defeat, as it was not a straightforward conquest, victory, or defeat like the Battle of Badr. Both sides suffered heavy losses, and at times, Muslims gained the upper hand, while at other times, the #Polytheists #Mushrikeen had the advantage. However, in the end, the polytheists' army withdrew from the battlefield without engaging in a decisive confrontation and returned to #Mecca
Mohammed, peace be upon him and his family, was informed by his uncle Abbas, who resided in Mecca, about a conspiracy by the polytheists. The Prophet, peace be upon him and his family, consulted the Ansar (the helpers from Medina) and the Muhajirin (the emigrants from Mecca) about whether to defend the city while staying there or to go outside Medina and engage in battle. The decision was made to opt for the latter, which meant going out of the city to fight.
On the 6th of Shawwal, after the Friday prayers, the Prophet صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم emphasized steadfastness to his companions and then set out from Medina with a force of a thousand soldiers. At the location of Ash-Shawat, a hypocrite named #Abdullah bin Abi Sabah confronted them with a force of 300 horsemen and falsely claimed that he was not advised to engage in battle while remaining inside the city. On Saturday, the 7th of Shawwal, 3 AH (March 23, 625 CE), both armies faced each other in the battlefield of Uhud. The mountain of Uhud was at the backs of the Muslims. On a pass there, the Prophet صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم stationed fifty archers under the leadership of Abdullah bin Jubair to prevent the enemy from attacking from that direction.
