What do the democrat and republican parties have that the libertarian party lacks? Mass appeal. There are two types of people who are attracted to the libertarian party - 1.) hyper-intelligent & reasonable people who hold nuanced views & opinions and who see that the two-party system is deeply flawed, and 2.) fringe lunatics. This is all good and well, except for the fact that this excludes idiots. And most people are idiots. Conversely, idiots are exactly the target audience for both the right and the left. So, how can libertarians attract exponentially more people? Pander to the idiots.
