1 Thessalonians 3:11-13

Listen Later

11 Now may our God and Father himself and our Lord Jesus clear the way for us to come to you. 12 May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you. 13 May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones.ReflectionsWritten by Eric ZhouOur current circumstances are a bit like Paul’s. We long to be together with our brothers and sisters, but right now it’s difficult to meet and build one another up face to face. But even if we can’t meet, we can still do the best thing of all: turn to God as our Father and our Lord, knowing He delights to hear our prayers and has the power to answer them. In Paul's longing to see the Thessalonica Christians and "supply what is lacking in their faith" (1 Thess 3:10), he prays that God would do three things:Clear the way for him to travel to them (v.11), so they can encourage and build one another up in personIncrease their love (v.12), such that it overflows to everyone Strengthen their hearts (v.13), so they may be holy and blameless before God when Jesus returns. What a great prayer! Who can you can pray this prayer for today? It might be a beloved brother or sister you haven't seen in a long time, or someone you see quite regularly. And if no one comes to mind, maybe you can pray that God may increase your love such that it overflows in prayer for others.Until the day Jesus returns, let's be a prayerful people as we praise and proclaim His great name, growing in our love for Him and for those around us.ABOUT THE AUTHOREric is part of our Bossley Park congregation.
