As Paul finishes up his introduction to this letter, he challenges encourages Timothy to contend for the faith, trusting in the God who had called him to ministry and standing firm in His strength.

Following Paul's challenge to the incorrect use of the Law, he then recalls the amazing grace and love God lavished upon him in calling him to ministry.

In 1 Timothy 3:1-11, Paul instructs Timothy to challenge the false teachers in the church, and to restore an accurate teaching of the law and the gospel.
