Oliver (@oliverburkeman) is author of a number of books including, The Antidote: Happiness for People Who Can't Stand Positive Thinking* and Help! How to Become Slightly Happier and Get a Bit More Done.* His new book, Four Thousand Weeks*, is about "making the most of our radically finite lives in a world of impossible demands and relentless distraction".
In our conversation we of course start with productivity, but also dive into everything from ordering Korean food at 2am in NYC, to why being a digital nomad is not all it's cracked up to be. Oliver is not interested in productivity tricks, but rather digs deeper into the underlying psychology and philosophy implicit in our societal and individual obsessions with productivity. This conversation was a lot of fun, and I hope that something resonates with you and helps you to become more mindful if you continue your quest for productivity.

“Suspend your judgement and immerse yourself in the moment. What does this person have to say? Let go of your biases and immerse yourself in the present moment” ~ S Kavari.
Suta Kavari (@sutaonce) is an economist and director of research at Laurel Strategies where he provides advice to CEOs and other world leaders. But today I am talking to him about friendship across political lines, listening deeply, the role of social media in tribalism, and why the German apology for the Namibian genocide doesn't go far enough. Suta is a wonderful conversationalist, so discussions with him are great fun, and always memorable.

"Education is the most important investment in your life. It's the one thing that no one can take away from you. You could lose your home to a natural disaster, or you could be forced to leave it during a war and become a refugee. So anything you possess materially can be taken away from you, but there's one thing that no one can take away from you is your education, your ability to think for yourself." ~ S. Basij-Rasikh
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have to sneak to school knowing that if you got caught you and your entire family could be killed? That was the reality growing for my guest on this episode, Shabana Basij-Rasikh (@sbasijrasikh). She went on to defy her upbringing by starting a school of her own, SOLA Afghanistan, and is now changing the lives of girls worldwide through her work and activism.
