#10 - Cycling Tests - Maayke is the guinea pig !

Listen Later

Testing is a key part of your cycling journey. Today Maayke undergoes a full cycling assessment with different tests to determine her cycling profile, strength and weaknesses, and find out her correct training zones.

Why do we test in cycling?

  • Determine current fitness
  • Find strength and weaknesses
  • Determine cycling profile, which can lead to specific event selection
  • Determine power curve
  • Set a benchmark
  • Determine your training zones
  • Track progress over time
  • How do we test? Tests can be done both outdoors and indoors. We did the following tests:

    • Ramp test (ERG mode on Zwift)
    • 10s all out effort
    • 1min all out effort
    • 5min all out effort
    • 20min all out effort
    • Z2 test
    • What do we do with the results?

Now that we know your cycling profile and power zones we can determine very precise training zones, from sprinting to endurance zones, and also pick certain events that suit your strengths. Train your weaknesses and race your strengths!

We hope you enjoy the show and look forward to hear from you if you have gone through such tests and please share your results !
