In this second episode in the S.A.W. Series, we sit down with La Vaughn Belle and Jeannette Ehlers, the creators of the "I am Queen Mary" statue that sits in Copenhagen, Denmark and a replica at Barnard College in New York. The Queen Mary statue depicts Mary Thomas who led the Fireburn rebellion in 1878, the largest labor revolt in danish colonial rule. Join us as we discuss their brilliance in the creation process, holding history accountable, and making a space for Black women in spaces that aren't always welcoming.
