The first part of the 10th Anniversary and 250th episode of the Dreams of Consciousness Podcast features an interview with Michel "Away" Langevin of Voivod.
Few bands have epitomized metal's forward thinking vanguard as much as Canadian legends Voivod. Even in their raw and speed-obsessed early recordings, their music was characterized by a unique quality that inspired like-minded heshers to take thrash, death, and black metal to strange new places.
I spoke with Voivod drummer Michel "Away" Langevin about the origins of their distinctive style, and how their sound has evolved with the addition of guitarist Daniel "Chewy" Mongrain. We also discussed why their 15th album SynchroAnarchy came together like a puzzle, and why they decided to record an EP of Ultraman TV themes.
My thanks to Michel for speaking with me, and to all of you for listening.
