The second part of the 10th Anniversary and 250th episode of the Dreams of Consciousness Podcast features an interview with Max Kolesne of Krisiun.
I don't think it's a secret that I've always had a soft spot for Brazilian legends Krisiun. The band signified death metal's return to its fast, brutal roots, as well as the arrival of a new generation of heshers from far-flung corners of the globe who were eager to push the genre to new levels of extremity.
I spoke with Krisiun drummer Max Kolesne about what led the band to go against the alternative and groovey tide in the Nineties, and their early supporters in the Scandinavian black metal scene. We also discussed the band's willingness to expand their sound during the previous decade, and learning new ways to play in the lead-up to their latest album, Mortem Solis.
My thanks to Max for speaking with me, and to all of you for listening.
