Mixol is Beijing based singer/songwriter and producer Yitong Liu. Creating intricate melodies and beautifully produced alternative pop with a nod to artists like Kate Bush and Björk, this is not your standard pop music by any means.

Where do I start with a legendary band like Strawberry Alarm Clock?! Formed in California 60 years ago and their first single "Incense and Peppermints" reached number 1 on the US charts. During the late 1960’s they toured with Beach Boys and Buffalo Springfield and have played alongside many other well known bands at various stages in the bands’ history. They are about to release their first album of all-new material in nearly 60 years and they still have most of the original members in place…

Bureau De Change - despite the name - are a Bristol based post punk 4-piece fronted by former Lambrini Girls singer Flora Kimberley. Playing politically charged, fiercely feminist music, they recently signed to Alcopop! Records and released their first single on the label, “The Gammons Lament” which is due to be followed by their debut album during 2027.

Legs On Wheels are a five-piece progressive and art-rock band based in Manchester, England. Starting as a "bedroom project" by Danny Murgatroyd in 2017, two years later it became a fully formed band two years later. The second album “Goble” came out at the end of March, and although a little late to the party when I heard it I instantly got dragged back into my love for slightly off-centre prog Canterbury scene style.

The Zaxons are a Canadian post-punk and indie rock duo based in Vancouver, British Columbia. With elements of British post-punk, jangle pop, shoegaze and new wave combined with minimal vocals. Darren Hayman is a songwriter who first came to public attention as the frontman of Hefner back at the end of the 90’s. I tried to count up his releases, but they are numerous in number and genre so I’ll just say he’s prolific!

On 12th June he re-released the 2012 album ‘The Violence', a folk album about the 17th-century English Civil Wars and the East Anglian Witch Trials and after a few false starts I’ve managed to pin Darren down for a chat about it and his million other projects!

US are a Finnish band whose genre is challenging to pin down. Somewhere between garage rock, 60’s rock and roll, punk and blues rock, their live shows are full of energy and you can’t help but smile when they’re on stage. They have shared the stage with Electric Six and The Libertines as well as using the private studio of the latter to record their debut album. They release their 2nd album - “Everybody’s Giving Up The Cabaret” - on the same day this episode is released, so maybe it's the perfect accompaniment to the album...
