This week in The Ranch Local Spotlight is.....

    Owen Riegling!!

Hailing from Mildmay, we are beyond excited to have Owen in the Spotlight this week as we showcase his talent and chat about his career!

"Growing up in the small town of Mildmay ON, Owen spent most of his time playing hockey, and riding dirt bikes. He picked up a guitar for the first time when he was 11 years old, but didn't re-visit it until the age of 17. After discovering his passion for music, Owen began spending most weekends in local pubs playing country cover songs, and during the week writing songs. At 21, Owen graduated from the Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology (OIART) for music production, and was finally able to produce and release his own music with his first release being in July of 2019. Owen has since released 3 songs and does not plan on stopping. He recently formed a band in his home town where they are starting to pick up traction locally. He also plays with the BBR, a band from Hamilton ON, as vocalist and guitar player, you can see them play at the Stampede Ranch in Guelph. Owen is driven and more excited than ever to create new music. This is just the beginning."

  • Karli June

The Ranch Local Spotlight is back! Our first Local Spotlight of 2021 shines on Listowel's own, Karli June! Jackie chats with Karli about her local roots, her music career, her brand new single, and more!

"Karli June introduced herself to the Canadian country music scene in 2016 when her singles, Black & White and Setting Me on Fire, were both distributed to radio. She’s kicked off 2020 with the release of her song, Say Too Much, and now has a brand new track titled Heart Drunk!

Over the last five years, the Listowel, ON native has been putting in work playing shows with artists like Dierks Bentley, Jason Blaine, Brett Kissel and Terri Clark. But she was a performer even before that. Like many other artists, Karli started singing in the church choir and then moved on to local fairs and signing competitions. By the time she was a teenager, she was taking piano, taught herself how to play the guitar, and started writing songs.

She is the embodiment of truth that there is no such thing as an overnight success."

  • David Boyd Janes

    THIS WEEKS LOCAL SPOTLIGHT...

Shines on none other then Warner Music’s own,

    David Boyd Janes!

Jackie chats with David about his career, working with a major record label, his brand new single "Couldn't Hurt", and what's next for this rising country star.

"A Toronto, Ontario native, David Boyd Janes is being recognized as one of country music’s most promising new artists – and he owes everything he has accomplished so far to the decision he made two years ago of quitting his job to focus on music fulltime.  The valiant move paid off quickly; 2019 was a monstrous year for the budding country star.

“I truly feel like I’m stuck in the greatest dream I’ve ever had and I hope I never wake up,” says David. “I have no idea what’s around the corner but I’m really excited to greet it and embrace it all.”

He emerged out of 100 artists to win The Next Country Music Star contest put on by the Havelock Country Jamboree, and was named Artist of the Year at the Mississauga Music Awards. Another win at the Country Wild Music Festival in Cobourg, Ontario, earned David a trip to Nashville to record a song with Grammy-winner Jamie Tate. Before David even released the song – Ready For A Good Time – Montana’s restaurant chain chose it to be featured in their advertisements airing nationwide on both tv and radio. After winning the Boots & Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase, he not only got the opportunity to perform in front of 25,000 country fans on the final night of the festival, but with the win came a single release contract through Warner Music Canada.

The song - Couldn’t  Hurt - was written with country superstar James Barker, fellow CMAOntario Award nominee Aaron Alan and industry veteran Joe Ernewein.

2020 has also seen David earn his first CMAOntario Award nomination in the Rising Star category, and while plans for a robust tour had to be put on hold, next year is shaping up to be his busiest yet."
