  • “I Judged People Struggling With Addiction. Then It Entered My Home.” | Billy Thomas

What does it look like to use your success, experience, and resources for a purpose bigger than yourself?

In Episode 50, Billy Thomas shares how his family’s experience with addiction changed the way he viewed faith, work, and the people around him. A financial advisor by trade, Billy didn’t walk away from his career. Instead, he began to see it as a platform for encouraging others and supporting people in recovery.

Billy talks about the decision he and his wife, Lisa, made to open their property to men coming out of detox and prison, even when they couldn’t see what would come next. He also shares why he encourages people to think about “repurposing” their lives and how small steps of obedience can lead to unexpected opportunities.

    In this conversation:

    • How addiction in Billy’s family changed his perspective
    • Finding purpose while continuing a successful career
    • The decision to open their home to men in recovery
    • How Billy and Lisa use their different gifts together
    • The value of relationships and community in recovery
    • Why it’s important to start small and take the next step

  • From Business Success to Kingdom Impact | Mark Howard

What happens when God gives a successful entrepreneur a purpose bigger than his business?

At 55 years old, Mark Howard had built a successful precast concrete company but had never opened a Bible. That decision set him on an unexpected journey from building a business to helping transform lives inside North Carolina prisons.

Mark also reflects on the lessons he learned through decades of entrepreneurship, the importance of discipline and persistence, and how God can use ordinary business skills for an extraordinary purpose.

  • The Man Behind Hardball: Bob Muzikowski’s Story

Bob Muzikowski knew how to coach baseball. So when he saw children near Chicago’s Cabrini-Green neighborhood who needed steady adults in their lives, he started a team.

  • The Man Behind Hardball: Why Real Change Requires You to Show Up | Bob Muzikowski

Bob Muzikowski’s work helped inspire the movie Hardball, starring Keanu Reeves. But the real story goes far beyond a baseball team. After moving near one of Chicago’s most dangerous housing projects, Bob began playing baseball with children in the neighborhood. What started with a few kids grew into one of the largest inner-city Little League programs in the country. Bob later helped establish Chicago Hope Academy, a Christian college and life-preparatory school serving students on Chicago’s West Side.In this episode of the 100X Podcast, Bob shares why lasting change requires more than good intentions or donations. It requires presence, relationships, sacrifice and a willingness to move toward people and places others would rather avoid. We discuss faith in action, building trust in struggling communities, using business experience for a greater purpose and why you do not have to fix an entire city to make a meaningful difference. Sometimes change begins with one baseball field, one school or one adult who refuses to leave.Bob’s story challenges us to stop waiting for someone else to solve the problems in front of us and ask a more personal question: What can I do with what I already have?Subscribe to the 100X Podcast for more conversations about faith, leadership, generosity and using your life to create lasting impact. The 100X Podcast is sponsored by Anchor Investments, whose mission is to build America’s most generous real estate company.

  • He Built a $1.5 Billion Company. Then Life Changed Everything | Angel Alvarez

What happens when you build the company you dreamed about, only to discover that time was the one resource you could never replace?

Angel Alvarez spent more than three decades helping grow an optical wholesale business into a $1.5 billion organization. He entered an established industry as competitor number 48, helped consolidate and transform that industry, and eventually led a company with approximately 1,700 employees. He describes the journey as a “30-year overnight success.”

Behind that success were thousands of decisions, years of disciplined work, calculated risks, acquisitions, leadership changes, and a willingness to keep moving when the outcome was uncertain. Angel’s faith and the example of his mother gave him the courage to take risks without allowing fear to control him.

    Then life changed.

After the company was sold to private equity, Angel remained as CEO. During that season, his wife was diagnosed with stage-three bladder cancer. He stepped away from the daily operation of the company to care for her, and nine months later, she passed away. In a short period of time, Angel lost his wife and stepped away from the business that had occupied much of his adult life.

That experience forced him to examine the cost of success, the difference between what is valuable and what is priceless, and the danger of assuming there will always be more time.

In this conversation, Angel shares why every achievement carries a cost, how leaders can build teams that allow them to step away from daily operations, why your career cannot become your entire identity, and how he now brings the same intentionality he once gave his company to his daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, faith, and relationships.

Ambition and achievement still matter. The deeper challenge is deciding how much is enough, making room for the people you love, and building a life you will still value after the job title is gone.

  • The Cost of Success Nobody Talks About | Angel Alvarez

Angel Alvarez helped build a $1.5 billion organization. But his most important lessons came when the life he had carefully built suddenly changed.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Angel came to America following the Castro revolution. He eventually entered corporate America, learned how large companies build new ventures, and used those lessons to launch his own business. What began as the 48th competitor in its field grew over three decades through acquisitions, organic growth, and a willingness to think bigger.

Then Angel’s wife was diagnosed with stage-three bladder cancer.

He stepped away from his role as CEO to care for her. Nine months later, she passed away. Angel was left grieving the loss of his wife while also facing life outside the company he founded.

In this conversation, Angel shares how faith helped him overcome fear, what building a major company required, and why success always carries a cost. He also explains how he rebuilt his life around family, faith, and the things that cannot be measured in dollars.

This episode is an honest conversation about ambition, identity, grief, leadership, and the danger of assuming we will always have more time.

  • Your Final Chapter | Chris Crane

What if the final fifteen years of your life could create ten times more impact than your entire career?

Chris Crane has built companies, led international organizations and helped scale work that now reaches millions of people. He acquired and turned around a struggling commercial real estate information company, led it through an IPO and eventual sale, served as CEO of Opportunity International and later co-founded Edify, which now partners with more than 51,000 Christian schools in developing countries.

In this conversation, Chris explains why his most important season of leadership may be the one he is living now. He shares how mentors helped shape some of the biggest decisions of his life and why experience alone does not make someone a great mentor.

Chris, Lloyd Reeb and Micah Lacher discuss the difference between quickly giving advice and deeply listening, how accomplished leaders can invest their wisdom into the next generation and why mentoring the right leader can eventually affect millions of lives.

Chris also shares practical lessons about making major decisions, scaling a social enterprise, hiring strong people, learning from failure and taking important choices to God through prayer and fasting.

This conversation offers a different way to think about the later years of leadership. Your most productive work may not be another company carrying your name. It may be helping another leader build something that reaches farther than you ever could alone.
