#103: The Art of Experimentation: Ralph Waldo Emerson on Being an Endless Seeker

Listen Later

Remember 11th grade chemistry and all the cool experiments you did? As adults, I don't think we experiment enough. I think Ralph Waldo Emerson might have agreed with me on this.

In a quote from his essay "Circles," Emerson says, "I unsettle all things. No facts to me are sacred; none are profane. I simply experiment, an endless seeker with no Past at my back."

In this episode, I explore what Emerson means by experimentation and how it can benefit us.

  • I discuss the importance of keeping an open mind and disregarding labels when experimenting.
  • I also talk about differentiating between simply trying something and conducting a more formal experiment.

If you're interested in exploring the concept of experimentation in your life, join me in this exploration of Ralph Waldo Emerson's thoughts on being an "endless seeker."

As always, thanks for listening!
