Show 103 – Facebook Marketing with Matt Astifan and App.net first impressions.

App.Net looks like it will be cool

App.Net – Andrew, Bob, and Bonnie are on App.net – Is there a market for a paid service?
App.Net is just an API and all the work will be done by developers – no advertising ever, the promise
Over $400 000 has been raised so far… $50 per year for a user and $100 for developer with their own Kickstarter like campaign
Matt says because it is a paid service it will reduce spam. Andrew says the spammers will combine spamming with credit card fraud

If This Then That

If This Then That tells Bob when it is raining so he can grab his umbrella and reminds him to pay his rent! You can set up any recipe you want.
Set up a recipe to tell you when Amazon offers a free book
Set up Cascading Events by daisy chaining your recipes and create a domino effect

Facebook Chat with Social Media Trainer, Matt Astifan

Two scenarios – B 2 B – Networking and B 2 C – customer acquisition
Best strategy is to create a fan page with a landing page (squeeze page)
Run Facebook Ads to see what converts best and fine tune it.
Pictures of a face generally have higher Click Through Rates
Always learn something about your demographic with every campaign
Matt recommends direct response marketing. You must be able to track ROI.
The only downside to a facebook landing page is you can’t do split testing

Bob bought a Nexus 7

Bob loves it – solid, sexy and great performance
The only complaint is camera quality isn’t great
Works great using other languages
Good Battery Life
Bob highly recommends it

Bonnie reviewed an ASUS Transformer Prime – with Windows! And Andrew is looking for a new computer and likes the Lenovo Idea Pad Yoga

Bonnie likes it because you can use it for everything included enterprise use
The Yoga has four modes – notebook, tablet, tent and stand
