#104 The Accidental Caregiver. With Kim Fraser
What happens in your life when you become the caregiver for your aging parents?
Educator, Author, Speaker, Kim Fraser joins me to share experiences and insights about caregiving from her book, "The Accidental Caregiver: Wisdom and guidance for the unexpected challenges in family caregiving".
Dr. Kimberly Fraser, author and speaker, is a champion for family caregiving. As a nursing professor she studies and writes about family caregiving, home care, case management, and related health policy. Dr. Fraser has embarked on a second career as an author, obtaining an MFA in Creative Nonfiction. The Accidental Caregiver: Wisdom and guidance for the unexpected challenges in family caregiving was released by Sutherland House October, 2022 followed by The Care Book: A planning and resource guide to support your journey from accidental to intentional caregiving in September, 2023. Kim is currently working on her memoir, Pilots, Polar Bears and Patients: The adventures of a young nurse in Canada’s north and a historical non-fiction narrative on the history of Cooking Lake Airport. Kim is represented by Rob Firing of Transatlantic Literary Agency. Outside of her writing life, Kim hangs out in her studio making jewelry, fibre arts, and restyled wearable art mostly from denim–her favorite fabric. Kim also practices and teaches yoga.
A champion for living your best life, Kim shares her WOW [Words of Wisdom]. Kim writes about family caregiving and more, teaches yoga, writing and combinations thereof, and creates wearable art with fibre, stones, and upcycled goods. A former nurse entrepreneur and professor, Kim’s messages are based in evidence, experience, and a bit of the esoteric.
