I know we have all been bombarded with ads, emails, and texts about voting this year because SO much is on the line in this election as the remnants of our democracy have been challenged at an exponential rate over the last 4 years. Over the past couple of months people have tried to pose arguments around not voting to me, so I did what I do best … read a book. In this episode I will be referencing Our Time is Now: Power, Purpose and the Fight for a Fair America by politician and author Stacey Abrams to provide some context and a rebuttal to the arguments that have been presented to me (meaning: I’m in my BAG this episode). Stacey Abrams references her career-long fight for democracy as well as her own personal experience with voter suppression during her infamous race for governor of Georgia in 2018. This book is a great, and quick (~250 pages), read for a crash course on the challenges facing our democracy and how press forward despite them.
