This morning we discuss the horrifying ordeal of the Sotah, a woman suspected of adultery. It is crucial to provide the oral law understanding of this, as the literal verses do not convey the genuine Jewish truth of the matter (as Jews, we never accept a literal reading of the Bible, but only with the oral law explanation). This bizarre ritual is intended to offer a supernatural resolution to a human problem - the destructiveness of gossip.
