This morning we discuss the earliest visual image of the Menorah it's not what you think!). We discuss Rabbi Yosef Soloveitchik's explanation of the subtle but fundamental difference between publicizing the miracle of Chanukah and publicizing the miracle of Purim. Partly based on an essay by my friend, student, and now teacher, Abe Mezrich, we provide insight to what the visual image of the Menorah should mean for us, and how, by connecting to its historical antecedent, it expresses the central message of Chanukah. Happy Chanukah!
